Well, the boats are packed, we’ve done our training and the club banter is reaching fever pitch. 48 of us going to the Skiffie World’s in Stranraer 6th-12th July, many of us staying all week – camping, campervanning, air bnb and hotels.
We are really excited that we are taking 48 members, which is just under half of our club, and are ready to showcase our Community Rowing Club on the world stage. We want to specifically mention our coach Lyndsay Henderson for getting us fit and rowing the best that we can. We can’t imagine the hours of work that she has put into training programmes, organising outings and bringing us together for meetings in the Yacht Club. Thank you Lyndsay!!
Another mention must go to Phil Roberston and all the boat maintenance team for getting two boats ready. Thanks to those who sanded, painted, varnished, replaced pins, made oarlocks and footrests and organised these sessions, we have two splendid boats to take with us. Yes, that’s two boats. One for us and one for a small crew from Bowdoinham in Maine! We are welcoming a small group from the USA into our club for a week and they will no doubt be extremely appreciative of the work put in by Phil and his team over the spring. Thanks Phil and all the Boat Maintenance Team.
And of course the organisation of an event this size doesn’t just happen on it’s own so I also want to give a big shout out to Amanda and Robert, our Captains, for doing all the behind the scene admin and liaising with the event organiser to make sure all the entries and documents are in place. Thanks Captains.
