And so to the last day of racing with the U17 finals and the Open Men and Women heats and finals. Conditions were fine for racing if a little hotter than before. Some NB folks on hols in the Mediterranean seeing comparative temperatures.
North Berwick Under 17 Mixed final crew worked hard in the heat on the 2km course and finished in a very respectable 5th place scoring points for NOB in the overall classification. Well deserved after all the hard training.

Then our Open Men’s crew got to business qualifying second in their heat behind Dundrum and went off to rest ahead of their late PM final.
NBRC Open Women’s crew qualified with relative ease in 1st place on Heat 3. But the ‘heat’ was clearly becoming more of a factor to all crews.
Both open crews were now keeping to the shade and hydrating whilst the U17 Mens and U17 Women finals took place. Our U17 Mens crew came in 6th just behind Dundrum but well in advance of the rest of the field. NB didn’t race a U17 Women’s boat and instead Cerys and Morgen went into the Ullapool boat for the final coming in 9th place. Well done to all junior members for taking part in your first Skiffie World’s!
The last two races of the day were the Open finals and our crews fought hard with Open Women coming in 5th and Open Men finishing in 10th.

It was then time to pack the boats and gazebo and for many the long drive home, and for some a celebration in the main marquee at Agnew Park prior to a final nights sleep in Stranraer and towing the boats back to NB.
