Day 2 and it’s the long distance race. The plan was for the men to race approx 5 miles from Ullapool to Ardmair and then for the ladies to race back. Turned out a little differently, the men set off at 11:00am heading North West out of Loch Broom into a stiff wind and choppy. The going was tough with the lead boats doing about 4mph and a large gap between the front and trailing boat, then the fog descended and visibility dropped, the course was shortened to keep everybody safe, so it turned into a 3 mile race. Ullapool won the men’s race convincingly but North Berwick did manage to force our way past the Boatie Blest crew to take third place. Sadly conditions didn’t lift in time for the ladies to race so our ladies are champing at the bit to get involved.
Juniors and 60+ tomorrow, and we’re hoping for some NBRC success.
