The decision quite rightly was made to postpone all racing today due to the high winds and poor sea conditions. In a pre-9am briefing Topher Dawson of SCRA and others explained that if anything the forecast had got worse overnight.
Changes were made to the schedule which unfortunately meant that some of our younger rowers (with jobs and younger families!) are unable to compete in certain events eg some 40+ categories. Luckily some can come back later in the week and compete in the Open category. Hard luck folks.
So instead of racing today it seemed like most of NB quickly altered course to the ‘MERCH!!’ and made off with various hoodies, t-shirts and the likes and then gathered in the usual coffee shops and eateries across Stranraer and Portpatrick(editors choice, bus pass helps).
It looks like conditions are on for a long day of racing tomorrow starting at 0820 and going through to 1920.
Good luck all NB rowers in your first day of racing tomorrow!!!!
